1:72 Persian Infantry

Article number: 500788006 Product: 1:72 Persian Infantry Parts: 42 Size: 2,4 cm Infantry was the largest branch of the Persian army. It consisted of three parts: the King's bodyguards, the Immortals, and troops from allied peoples and satrapies of the Persian Empire. During a military campaign, 2,000 royal guards always escorted the King. The bodyguards were the most distinguished and valorous Persian warriors. Another unit of the Persian elite infantry was the Immortals. There were invariably 10,000 of them. If any of the Immortals was killed or incapacitated, he was immediately replaced by warriors chosen from the other troops. Therefore, their number always remained unchanged. Many Persian infantrymen wore huge but light shields woven from twigs, which gave good protection from arrows. A considerable part of the Persian infantry used bows. Hiding behind large shields, archers shot at the enemy, inflicting considerable losses. Detailed Plastic Kit of Model Persian Infantry in Scale 1:72

1:100 Assault gun III layout B

Article number: 500786155 Product: 1:100 Assault gun III layout B Size: 5,3 cm Parts: 11 No glue required Designed to destroy fortifications and support infantry attacks, the Sturmgesch'tz III (or StuG III for short)'meaning assault gun would actually be the most-produced armored vehicle in the German army during World War II (with more than 10,000 constructed). Based on the proven Panzer III chassis, this vehicle had no turret, allowing it to mount a more powerful gun and more armor than a traditional tank, as well as reducing the costs to build. As the German military struggled against the well-armored Soviet tanks, the purpose of the StuG III was expanded into the role of tank destroyer. The Ausf. B model was completed by June of 1940. Compared to the earlier model, it featured wider tracks and a simplified transmission. It was protected by 50mm of armor in the front and its 75 mm StuK 37 L/24 gun gave it a more powerful offensive punch than the Panzer IIs, IIIs, and IVs. However, the fact that it did not have a turret made it vulnerable to more mobile attackers, while its lack of a machine gun made it vulnerable to infantry attack. Art.Nr.: 500786251 Art.bezeichnung: 1:100 Panzer IV Ausf. H Kit consists of one tank with 9 parts No glue required New tooling Development of Pak 40 gun started in 1938, however, since the gun didn't fit the "blitzkrieg" concept, it went on rather slowly. The gun was finally adopted for army service in the end of 1941, when both failure of "blitzkrieg" and incapability of smaller German guns to damage soviet tanks T-34 and KV became evident. Pak 40 gun had a greater firepower than its Soviet counterpart, the ZiS-3 gun, but it was far less mobile and more expensive to produce. 1:100 Sd. Kfz. 222 Armored Car

Article number: 500786157 Product: 1:100 Sd. Kfz. 222 Armored Car Size: 4,6 cm Parts: 18 No glue required The German military built nearly 1000 of the light armored reconnaissance vehicle Sk. Kfz. 222. The vehicle's 80 kilometer per hour road top speed and 40 kilometer per hour cross country top speed made it a valuable compliment for panzer units that needed a reliable recon vehicle. It performed excellently in countries with good roads, like Western Europe, but struggled in the Eastern Front and North Africa because of its poor off-road performance. Based on a typical heavy off-road truck, the Sk. Kfz. 222 was equipped with 5 to 8 mm of armor plate and a turret-mounted 20mm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon and a 7.92 mm machine gun. Though it would eventually be replaced by more rugged half-tracks for the recon role, it did impress the Soviet's enough to inspire their own BA-64 armored car. Model supplied unpainted. Assembly required. This "snap fit" model can be assembled without glue. Includes unit flag and unit card for use with the Art of Tactic WWII game. Historical Notes The Hawker Hurricane was the main British interceptor at the beginning of World War II. Over 14,000 of these planes would be built by the end of the war, and they would serve the Empire in every major theater. The Hurricane was a versatile fighter, serving as bomber escorts during the Battle of France and defending England during the Battle of Britain. Later in the war, the Hurricane was superseded by other designs (most notably the famous Spitfire), though it continued to see use as a ground attack fighter-bomber. Production of the Hawker Hurricane ceased in 1944. The Hurricane Mk-I was the first production model of the airplane. It had fabric-covered wings and body, sported eight .303 machine-guns, and was powered by the famous Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The sturdy and reliable plane had a maximum speed of about 330 mph (550 km/h) and a range of 480 miles (772 km).

1:144 WWII Wargame AddOn Ger.JU-87 Stuka

Article number: 500786123 Product: 1:144 WWII Wargame AddOn Dt. JU-87 Stuka Length of the model 77 mm 8 parts In many ways, the famous Junkers Ju-87 Sturzkampfflugzeug ("dive bomber")—better known by its nickname "Stuka"—was the symbol of German air power during World War II. Created by Hermann Pohlmann in 1935, this deadly attack aircraft made its first appearance in the Luftwaffe’s "Condor Legion" during the Spanish Civil War. With its distinctive inverted gull wings, fixed landing gear, and wing-mounted "Jericho Trumpet" sirens, the mere sight of a Stuka struck fear in Germany’s enemies. The Stuka was designed to drop its payload as it reached the bottom of an almost vertical dive, which was controlled automatically by the airplane’s mechanical systems. This allowed it to hit ground targets with remarkable accuracy. It also sported a pair of 7.92mm machine guns that it could use for strafing runs. But while the Ju-87 featured innovative engineering, was sturdy, reliable, and very effective against ground targets, it was very vulnerable to fighter aircraft because of its poor maneuverability, slow speed, and lack of defensive weapons. During the war with the Soviets, as Germany lost air superiority, the Ju-87 proved too vulnerable to Soviet fighters, and was gradually replaced by the Focke-Wulf Fw 190.

Article number: 500788061 Product: 1:72 Austrian Musket.+Pikemen 17th cty Parts: 48 Size: 2,5 cm Kit consists of 45 figures in 12 different poses. Since the middle of the XV century the Austrian family of Habsburgs had been chosen invariably for the throne of the Holy Roman Empire. In connection with the Turkish invasion of the Central Europe importance of the House greatly increased. Since the XVI till XVIII century in opinion of contemporaries they were like a shield protected the Western Europe from incursion of Moslems. In the first half of the XVII century the Austrian infantry had been organized in accordance with directions given by Morris von Nassau, who was founder of the Netherlands army which was the most progressive during that time. Infantry battalion had been included 550 persons. 250 pike- men were in the center of formation, 240 musketry were in positions at flanks and 60 were in the line of skirmishers. Skirmishers were to fire during countermarch, and that required a highest skill and coherence of actions of soldiery, but at the same time it was a way to keep the strength of continuous fire. In case of threat from cavalry musketry were to shelter behind ranks of pikemen without breaking of formation. On a battlefield battalions had been arranged in three echelons similar to battle formation of the Roman legions. Such arrangement had been given no obstructions during maneuvering of separate detachments and had been allowed to give a support to each other in necessity. 1:72 British Bofors 40mm Mk-2 AA-Gun

Article number: 500786170 Product: 1:72 British Bofors 40mm Mk-2 AA-Gun Size: 9,5 cm Parts: 57 No glue required Designed by the Swedish manufacturer AB Bofors, this 40mm autocannon was one of the most widely used anti-aircraft guns of World War II. The weapon was so popular and reliable, that a version of it continues to be used today. Variants of the Bofors 40mm AA gun were used by almost every major combatant of World War II, both on land and at sea. Over 5,000 Bofors guns were sent to the USSR during the war under the Lend-Lease program. The Bofors gun fired up to 120 2-pound, high-explosive shells per minute, and could engage targets at an altitude of 12,500 feet (3800 m). The original design was difficult to use against fast-moving aircraft, so the British army created a mechanical computer called the Kerrison Director which helped the three-man firing team acquire their targets. But, this system was often difficult to use, and required a large electrical generator, forcing most crews to rely on the guns back-up iron sights. 1:72 British Machine Gun w/crew 1939-42

Article number: 500786167 Product: 1:72 British Machine Gun w/crew 1939-42 Size: 2,4 cm Parts: 28 No glue required The Vickers machinegun was a critical component of the British army from World War I until the 1960's. Heavy and difficult to move, it was nonetheless beloved by its crew because of its excellent reliability. The Vickers gun was an improved version of the earlier Maxim machinegun. It used a water-based cooling system to prevent the barrel from overheating, which allowed it to fire as many as 10,000 rounds in an hour. During World War II, the Vickers machine-gun was typically fielded in a separate medium machinegun platoon. Each platoon would typically include four guns, each with its own crew and a small group of riflemen, who were responsible for protecting the gun from enemy attack. The riflemen would also serve as ammunition bearers, carrying bullets to keep the guns firing. Contents: 4 unpainted soldiers 1 machine-gun - 1 unit base with flag - 1 unit card

1:72 British QF 2-pdr Anti Tank Gun,crew

Article number: 500786169 Product: 1/72 British QF 2-pdr Anti Tank Gun,crew This kit includes one plastic model British artillery piece with two soldier crewmen. Model supplied unpainted. Assembly required. This "snap fit" model can be assembled without glue. Includes unit flag and unit card for use with the Art of Tactic WWII game. Historical Notes Commonly known simply as the "2 pounder gun", this 40mm cannon was originally designed to serve as the tank gun for the Vickers Cruiser Tank Mk. I. For economic and standardization reasons, the British government decided to use it as the standard anti-tank gun as well. Thus, in 1936, the "Ordnance QF 2 pounder Mark IX on Carriage Mark II" was born. The gun carriage, designed by Woolwich Arsenal, could be used to tow the gun or converted into a firing platform with 360 degree traverse by removing the wheels. The 2 pounder gun was more powerful than other anti-tank guns of the time (which were typically 20mm to 37mm). But, this added power came at the price of a much greater weight and a high profile that made it easier for the enemy to locate and target the gun. As tank armor improved over the course of the war, however, it quickly became clear that the 2 pounder was not strong enough, and after 1941 it was gradually replaced by more powerful 6 pounder guns. The 2 pounder was never issued high explosive ammunition, which further reduced its effectiveness against unarmored targets.

1:72 German Medical Personnel 1941-43

Article number: 500786143 Product: 1:72 German Medical Personnel 1941-43 Size: 2,4 cm Parts: 14 No glue required Throughout the history of warfare, one major concern has been dealing with soldiers wounded during fighting. Combat medics are, in many ways, the most heroic of soldiers: willing to face enemy fire and recover their wounded comrades so they can receive medical treatment. Most medics are only lightly armed for self-defense, relying primarily on the 1864 Geneva Convention prohibition against attacking medical personnel. German Krankentr'ger were trained in advanced first aid. These teams were permanently attached to German infantry companies and were equipped with a red cross armband and a pistol for defense, as well as a kit with first aid and medical supplies. Each company was also assigned Sanit'tsoffiziere, who were trained medical doctors, to provide immediate medical care. Contents: 4 unpainted soldiers - 1 unit base with flag - 1 unit card
