1:32 1963 Goodwood Sussex Trophy

Article number: 50003898A Product: 1:32 1963 Goodwood Sussex Trophy Perhaps the most special event in the UK classic motor sport calendar, the Goodwood Revival, offers attendees a chance to step back in time. Scalextric is celebrating this special time in motor sport with a Legends Limited Edition Twin Pack (C3898A). Using the already popular new Jaguar E-Type tooling, we’re looking back to the 1963 Sussex Trophy that pitted a great British car against the might of the prancing horse from Italy... The 1963 Sussex Trophy saw one of the most iconic titanic GT battles ever to occur at Goodwood during its heyday in the early 1960s. The race pitted some of the most beautiful and desirable cars ever produced against one another in a pitched 15 lap battle to the chequered flag. Representing the prancing horse was Mike Parkes driving a Ferrari 250GTO, lining up against the lightweight E-Types of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori. In front of packed grandstands, the big GT +2.5 class cars screamed into battle. The two E-Types fought hard with the 250 GTO, with the cars never more than a few lengths apart even as they cut through the slower class runners. Ultimately, it was Graham Hill who claimed victory, taking the chequered flag and racking up another victory at the circuit where he would win for both Ferrari and Jaguar in the same year. Mike Parkes took second, with the other lightweight E-Type claiming third. The 1st and 3rd finishes were a huge achievement for the E-Type, with the Ferrari beginning the races as favourite, having been a class winner at the Le Mans 24 Hour race. However, here it was beaten by the best GT Sports car Britain had. The E-Type in racing trim was, and still is, both stunningly beautiful and stunningly fast. - Limited Edition 2.000 - Goodwood Sussex Trophy 1963 - Twin Pack Jaguar E-Type #47 G. Hill, #48 R. 1:32 Legend Lancia Stratos 1976 Twinpack

Article number: 50003894A Product: 1:32 Legend Lancia Stratos 1976 Twinpack The Lancia Stratos HF (High Fidelity) was a hugely successful rally car in the mid-to-late 1970s. Conceived through the concept car, the Stratos Zero, designed by Bertone, the Lancia Stratos prototype was revealed at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, a year after Bertone himself had driven their concept car underneath the barrier at Lancia. Using the Dino V6 engine, made by Ferrari, Lancia carried out some extensive testing with the Stratos, racing the car in several events in 1972 and 73. With the engine phased out in 1974, production of the car ended in 1975 when approximately 492 had been made. The Lancia Stratos won the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976. While we’ll never know for sure, the Stratos may have gone on to win even more had problems within the Fiat group not shifted the focus away from the Stratos. Lacking support from Fiat, the Lancia Stratos still had success, with its last victory coming in 1981. - Limited Edition 5.000 - Twin Pack Legend - Lancia Stratos 1976 - Rallye Monte Carlo & Rallye San Remo 1976 - Scalextric Digital-Dekoder 500008515 - Carson Digital-Dekoder 500707130

60 J. Collec. Car No.5 - 1970s

Article number: 50003827A Product: 60 J. Collec. Car No.5 - 1970s The 1970s saw Scalextric continue to follow the trends of worldwide motorsport with a string of successful cars. F1 World Champions were featured with JPS Lotus cars and a range of Tyrells, as well as the outlandish 6 wheeled P34 Tyrell and March 2-4-0. Lauda’s Ferrari also made an appearance as well as the Brabham BT49. Away from F1 the wild Group 5 era of sports car racing was covered with the BMW CSL as well as Porsche’s whale tailed 911. British classics such as the Triumph TR7 and Mini Clubman also featured in the Scalextric range. One car not covered by Scalextric in the 1970s, but a poster child of the decade, was the Lancia Stratos HF, widely and more simply known as the Lancia Stratos. The HF stands for High Fidelity and the car proved to be a very successful machine, winning the World Rally Championship in 1974, 1975 and 1976. Overall it took 18 WRC victories between 1974 and 1981 with Sandro Munari taking 7 of them. Other notable winners in the Stratos are Björn Waldegård, Bernard DarNiche and Markku Alén. The wedge shape of the Stratos is classic 1970s, with its mid-mounted Ferrari sourced V6 giving the car a large amount of power to put through its short chassis, which also gave the Stratos some nimble handling as well.

1:32 VW Beetle/Camper Van – W.C. Rat HD

Article number: 50003966A Product: 1:32 VW Beetle/Camper Van – W.C. Rat HD Despite today being highly desirable collectors cars, the Volkswagen Beetle and T1b Camper van did however go through an era of being both out of fashion and affordable to those on the fringes of modern society. The surf culture of the 1970s/80s saw many flock to the plentiful, cheap and easy to maintain air cooled Volkswagens. As the cars became more popular some sought to keep the cars going, but allowing the body to look faded, rusty, and generally downtrodden. Thus ‘Rat Look’ was born. Popular also on 1950s American trucks and pickups today it is a much followed automotive scene, with many seeking to make once immaculate cars into replicas of the sort of cars those who surfed all day and partied all night used to park on Californian beaches.
