V PANTHER AUSF.G - SD.KFZ.251/1 - U.S. INFANTRY (32 figure) - SHERMAN M4A3 76MM - M3 HALF TRACK After the success of Operation Overlord and the consolidation of the bridgehead on the beaches of Normandy, it was essential to achieve by the Allied troops, a significant penetration through the German defenses. Operation Cobra was the codename of the offensive, planned by Lieutenant General Omar Bradley, that had the goal to break the German defense line around St.Lo and advance towards Brittany and the Seine. The Operation Cobra began on 25th July 1944 with a heavy aerial bombardment and was followed by intense fighting in the difficult terrain of the Norman countryside. The "bocage" created a lot of constraints to the armored vehicles and to the infantry movements and activities. The few reinforcements were employed by Germans in various counterattacks but after some days of fighting the defensive lines collapsed under the pressure of Allied troops. The Operation Cobra completed successfully what began on the Normandy Beaches during the D-Day and was the starting point for the liberation of Paris.

1:72 WWII Battle Set: Battle of Arras'40

Article number: 510006118 Product: 1:72 WWII Battle Set: Battle of Arras'40 The Battle of Arras took place in Arras, in northeastern France, and was an Allied counter-attack against the German Army, an attempt of British and French armies to stop the Wehrmacht advance toward the English Channel. The division of the British "Frankforce" used two regiments of Matilda tanks, heavily armored for those days, as backbone of the offensive during the battle. However, the Allied offensive was shattered against the determined resistance of the 7th Panzer Division, commanded by General Erwin Rommel, which, despite the suffered losses, strongly kept the position. Rommel, as German anti-tank guns were ineffective, used field Artillery and "flak" guns to knock out the British tanks. After the tactical defeat of Arras, the British troops retreated to the English Channel an started up the code-named Operation Dynamo to evacuate French territories. THE BOX CONTAINS 12 FIGURES <(>&<)> 2 GUNS. The M1942, also called ZIS 3 after the plants where it was made, was the most produced gun during World War II. A simple, easy to handle weapon with a range of more than 13 Km, it was employed as field artillery but, above all, as an antitank gun. Low and compact, it could be easily camouflaged. The divaricable rear and the perforated wheels and tires made its use easy in difficult conditions. The 76mm muzzle, slightly modified and ameliorated, was used also as armament for T-34/76 and KV-1 tanks.

1:72 Vietnam War

Article number: 510006184 Product: 1:72 Vietnam War The political-military escalation happened the 1960s in Southeast Asia has generated one of the longest and most complex conflicts in the recent History. The United States supported the South Vietnam Government against the North Vietnamese regular troops flanked by the People’s Liberation Armed Forces, commonly known as Vietcong. The ground war started on 1965 and ended only ten years later with the fall of Saigon of the evacuation of the latest American soldiers. The long years of war, started with an aerial campaign of bombing on North Vietnam, were characterised by clashed and fighting in tough rural environment with a vegetation and a structure of villages that provided ideal conditions for the guerrilla war. Unfortunately a huge number of civilians were involved in the war and in the military operations. The American military supremacy, which saw the massive use of helicopters and armoured vehicles, was counterbalanced by the effective North Vietnamese and Vietcong tactics.

1:72 WWII: El Alamein Battle Railway St.

Article number: 510006181 Product: 1:72 WWII: El Alamein Battle Railway St. NEW MDF PARTS COLORED INSTRUCTION SHEET INCLUDED Content: El Alamein railway station and water tank in MDF material, tracks, German & British Infantry, 2 guns with figures and tanks. El Alamein is one of the most famous battles in the Second World War fought between the British forces, led by Lieutenant-General Bernard Law Montgomery, and the Axis forces, led by Field Marshall Erwin Rommel. After the penetration of the German and Italian Forces in Egypt, based on the precise goal to advance up to the Suez Canal, the British Army started to adopt a strategic plan based on the prevention of further enemy advancing toward the cities of Alexandria and Cairo. The Axis long supply lines and the lack of reinforcements, joined to the 8th Army superiority in men and vehicles, were the assumptions for the Montgomery’s great offensive successfully launched on 23rd October 1942 (codename Lightfoot). El Alamein was a turning point of the North African campaign bringing, in May 1943, to the Italian-German forces capitulation in Tunisia.
